The vast majority of our registration is still walk up. You have no idea of how many people will be in your bracket the day of the tournament. We pool weights at our tournaments in order to prevent weight cutting for locals. We also do not import wrestlers who didn’t pay their pre-registration into the tournament, so you are not pre-registered unless you pay your pre-reg online.

Team selection is based on several factors:

  1. We are always trying to put together the best SCVWA Team possible, but we are not interested in a win at all cost model. Quality of wrestler is definitely something we take into account, but it is definitely not the only thing. Character of the wrestler and family matters as well. We are trying to put together a team that will win and carry themselves like mature, respectful, gracious competitors.

  2. Do you participate in SCVWA Tournaments (General Rule is have you wrestled two tournaments)

  3. Did you wrestle on the team last year

  4. Past history of SCVWA Tournaments (Sometimes we will let people on due to their past tournament participation)

  5. You must attend HS or MS in the SCVWA zone

  6. You must be in the appropriate grade for the team
