Divisions
This is a Freshman and Sophomore (Frosh/Soph) boys wrestling tournament. This tournament does not allow Junior or Senior wrestlers!

Cost
We are charging $400 for 15 wrestlers, or $35 a wrestler. Please email any pay questions to James Gaynor.
We will max this tournament out at 320 wrestlers this coming year on 5 mats. We will start the team waitlist after 30 teams sign up.

Directions: Fill out the form below (on left) and you will be emailed a contract (via DocuSign). Once you complete the DocuSign form it will be sent to your Athletic Director, so be sure to fill out his information correctly in the form. On the DocuSign document you will need to input the number of wrestlers you intend to bring and the cost, so please be sure it matches the form submitted. Email any questions to daniel_mccune@fuhsd.org. Once you complete the form your team should appear in the list on the right.
PAST RESULTS
2025
In 2025 the Ed Ferrell continued as a boys FS Tournament. 25 teams, over 250 wrestlers, and out on time. This is what we are hoping to continue year in and year out.
2024
In 2024 the Ed Ferrell ran just a boys FS Tournament. This proved to be much more successful in terms of tournament time due to the mat limitations.
2023
In 2023 the Ed Ferrell ran the same format as 2021 and 2022 tournaments with both FS and Girls divisions. Click the button below to see the results via Trackwrestling.
2019

Prior to 2019
Before 2019 when Principled by Design began running the tournament it was ran by Phil Agustin who was a long time Santa Cruz coach at both Harbor and Soquel High Schools. There are few records left from these tournaments due to it being run by hand for the most part. Phil was often assisted by Ed Ferrell himself at the tournament when Ed wan’t coaching the team. Prior to the name change to the Ed Ferrell Classic the tournament was known as the Harbor FS Tournament. Phil Agustin also ran the Coast Classic Tournament in Santa Cruz for many years, which is now the Pat Lovell Holiday Classic at Aptos High School. As far as I know these are the two longest running tournaments in Santa Cruz High School Wrestling.
