Divisions
This is a Freshman and Sophomore (Frosh/Soph) boys wrestling tournament. This tournament does not allow Junior or Senior wrestlers!

Cost
We are charging $400 for 15 wrestlers, or $30 a wrestler. Please email any pay questions to Jay Reyes.
We will max this tournament out at 320 wrestlers this coming year on 5 mats. We will start the team waitlist after 25 teams sign up.
More information will be available for this tournament as it gets closer. Your spot in the tournament is not guaranteed until payment has been received by the school. Be sure to update your Trackwrestling OPC contacts at the beginning of the season because we will import those contacts to enter lineups. The form to the right is collecting information we use in case of emergency or confusion.
We will begin the waitlist for the tournament after 25 teams. Teams will be confirmed after payment is received by the school.

Cost breakdown:
1-13 wrestlers = # of wrestlers x $30
14-15 wrestlers = $400
16-26 wrestlers = $400 + (# of wrestlers over 15 x $30)
27-30 wrestlers = $800
We are not accepting more than 30 wrestlers per team.

Prior to 2019
Before 2019 when Principled by Design began running the tournament it was ran by Phil Agustin who was a long time Santa Cruz coach at both Harbor and Soquel High Schools. There are few records left from these tournaments due to it being run by hand for the most part. Phil was often assisted by Ed Ferrell himself at the tournament when Ed wan’t coaching the team. Prior to the name change to the Ed Ferrell Classic the tournament was known as the Harbor FS Tournament. Phil Agustin also ran the Coast Classic Tournament in Santa Cruz for many years, which is now the Pat Lovell Holiday Classic at Aptos High School. As far as I know these are the two longest running tournaments in Santa Cruz High School Wrestling.
